The Backdoor Ministry

The Backdoor Ministry is a parish sponsored activity that helps the residents of downtown Columbus. Every day parish staff and volunteers provide over 100 bag lunches to anyone who stops by the back door of the rectory twice a day, 9:30-10:00 a.m. and 4:00-4:30p.m. This lunch consists of a sandwich, a piece of fruit, a package of chips, a package of cookies, and a bottle of water. Socks, gloves and hats are also available. This ministry is funded by contributions from parishioners and others in the diocese and from the contents of the Alms for the Poor Box, located in the wall  at the back of the Cathedral, near the Broad Street entrance. Volunteers help prepare sandwiches during Fellowship Sunday (typically held after the 10:30 Mass on the first Sunday of each month). Saint Vincent Family Center

The Saint Vincent Family Center is a pediatric non-profit agency providing expert behavioral health care services to the children of Central Ohio. Several times each year Saint Joseph Cathedral parish sponsors an activity in support of the Saint Vincent Family Center. Activities have included a collection drive for shoes and socks, and an annual Giving Tree at Christmas where parishioners provide gifts for the children supported by the Saint Vincent Family Center. Saint Francis Evangelization Center

The Saint Francis Evangelization Center is a Catholic outreach center dedicated to promoting family stability. In the spirit of Saint Francis, the organization is committed to providing food, clothing and shelter as a witness to the Gospel in the Vinton County area. They serve the men, women and children of Vinton County in an effort to ease the pain of poverty, while trying to impact the underlying causes of the poverty. Saint Joseph Cathedral parish periodically provides the Saint Francis Evangelization Center with personal care products to distribute to those in need. The Joint Organization for Inner-city Needs

The Joint Organization for Inner-city Needs (J.O.I.N.) functions under Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Columbus to provide for the material needs of low income families in Franklin County. Saint Joseph Cathedral parishioners provide Gift Cards through the annual Giving Tree at Christmas to be distributed by J.O.I.N. to those in need.
